For high school singers looking to improve their vocal ability,
VanderCook's Vocal Arts Camp summer program concentrates on the most crucial aspects of vocal performance, designed to help young voices reach their fullest potential.
Led by veteran choral music educators and performers,
this weeklong day camp provides voice lessons, daily
master classes and workshops in:
- Developing body alignment
- Proper breathing techniques
- Phonation
- Resonance
- Articulation
- Song interpretation
- Diction
- Personal style and stage presence
Each day begins with yoga for singers, and additional classes will cover choral music, musical theatre, movement for singers, sight-singing and theory.
Classes will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a short orientation on Sunday, July 8. Lunch will be provided daily. The week culminates in a camp-student performance and field trip to Millennium Park for a musical theatre concert.
Tuition is $500.00. Program fee, materials and daily lunch included. Students entering grades 9-12 are eligible to apply.

Applications must be submitted by June 15, 2018 and will require:
- YouTube link(s) to video recording of at least one art song or musical theatre selection
- Résumé of your accomplishments
- Repertoire list
- $25.00 application fee (applicable towards tuition)
