All students will have certain costume pieces that will be their own responsibility to provide as well as some that will be provided for them. I will break all of this down by group/student.
All sections are labeled with a relevant heading, so please feel free to skip the sections that are not relevant.
EVERYONE
All costume pieces provided for you can be stored at the school between competitions. For all other pieces, it will be the responsibility of the student to bring them to every performance.
As always, if there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at melmoneill@gmail.com or 630.421.3845.

Girls wear their hair curled and combed out (not ringlet curls) and pulled back halfway away from the face in what we call a showchoir “poof” or “bump.” There will be a demonstration of how to do this hairstyle during rehearsal. It may require different supplies for different hair types. I’ll give examples of how to use curlers, a curling iron, and hot rollers in rehearsal. Whichever method works best for the student is acceptable. Bobby pins that match the student’s hair color will be necessary to build the “poof.”
- Whichever method of curling works best for the student
- HAIRSPRAY
- Bobby pins that match hair color (Lots of them)
- Fine toothed comb or teasing comb
Make-up:
Makeup requirements are not particularly strict as far as specific makeup or colors go. But students must wear:
- Foundation to match their skin tone (so that they don’t get washed out on stage)
- Blush (any that is compatible with their skin tone, but preferably on the darker side, as they will be performing under bright lights)
- Silver/grey/black eyeshadow look
- Black mascara
- Black false lashes (no crazy styles – Ardell is an inexpensive brand you can find at drugstores. Anything like style #110 or the Demi-Wispies style are acceptable.)
- Berry-toned red lipstick (not looking for fire engine red here, just something dark that will pop under bright stage lights)
