BHS Choir families,
Here is our BHS Music Newsletter for August 22, 2018. Hope your year is off to a good start! I'm so excited to work with all of our fabulous students! Mick Gehr (pronounced like "Gear") is a senior Music Education major with an emphasis in Vocal Music. He is extremely excited to be working with all of the BHS choirs this Fall!
Mr. Gehr has experience in multiple performing arts, from musical theater to vocal jazz to contemporary a cappella. In his time performing, he has been in over 15 musical productions and competed in international competitions with his college a cappella group. In addition to his vocal experience, he's also performed with jazz bands, marching bands, and concert bands playing the saxophone. Mr. Gehr is thrilled to be able to share music with the kids in the program, and hopes he can teach at least one kid how to beatbox! Welcome to a new school year!
This is an email sent out to students and parents who have a child are enrolled in one (or more) of the choirs at Batavia High School. This message is going to every email that is listed in each child's PowerSchool. If you would like to have me use a different email, please let me know by replying to me directly. Each week, the other BHS music teachers and I send out a Newsletter talking about the exciting things going on in the E-wing, requests for parent help, and other things you will want to keep on your radar. Rather than send home a PDF, we make our newsletters into Hyperdocs that contain a ton of links where you can get more information, pictures, etc. Here is our first newsletter of the new year! If you haven't looked around the BataviaMusic.org website yet, please do so! BataviaMusic.org If you ever find anything on the website that conflicts with a newsletter, please let me know so I can make sure the correct information is out there everywhere. See you all soon! Show Choir summer rehearsals are coming up soon! Please check this document for important information, including a detailed schedule, description of fees, and a contract to be signed.
Here is the Slideshow that we used with our parent meeting on 8/11/2018. REMIND: We will use the Remind messaging service for course and co-curricular reminders.Parents are welcome to opt in to those messages if you are so inclined. To join, send the code below in a text message to the number 81010. Don't add other text to the message, just the @ symbol and the code that follows it. For example, to join the “parent” remind group, you send @bhsscprnts to the number 81010. You'll get a confirmation text asking for your name. STUDENTS: @bhsscstds PARENTS: @bhsscprnts If you use this with a lot of groups, you may prefer to use the Remind App or Web-based dashboard at Remind.com. There, you can see your groups, create groups, and change the way you get notified. You can opt to receive these messages as emails or push notifications instead of text-messages, for example. |
