I received this note from my colleague, Jason Hawkins, who is the new Director at Western Illinois University. Please see his message below. Note that he has scholarships to give. This looks like a wonderful event! The following is Dr. Hawkins message:
I am directing the Western Illinois University Summer Choir Camps this June and wanted to reach out to my choral friends to see if you have any students who might be interested! The WIU music camps are a wonderful opportunity for kids, and I'm really looking forward to directing this year. Students participate in a large choir setting, exploring repertoire INCLUDING BOTH ALL-STATE PIECES, but also experience smaller breakout sessions on vocal technique, music theory, music career options, world music, private voice lessons, and more. Recreation activities each day include group games/sports, a talent show, faculty recitals, etc. A finale concert concludes the camp on Friday afternoon.
The camps are very affordable, and I also am in charge of giving out scholarships. With about a month until the camps, your students have a very strong chance of receiving some form of financial aid if they apply soon.
